“Scott and his entire staff at Royal River Heat Pumps are a class act! From our first phone contact to the initial site visit to the installation and inaugural burst of heat, we experienced professionalism at its best.
Before discovering this top end company, we were reeling from a very disappointing experience with another HVAC firm who failed to deliver. Royal River was quick to win our trust with their attentive customer service and heat pump expertise.
We had two single zone Mitsubishi heat pump units and a State heat pump hot water heater installed. These heat pumps are only as good as the quality of their installation. Scott and his talented technicians were very knowledgeable and thorough. The team worked with clockwork precision and were a pleasure to have in our home.
We love our heat pumps! They are warm and efficient and support the goal of reducing our carbon footprint. We are grateful for the high quality installation by Royal River and offer our highest recommendation for this excellent company!”
David C. and Clare R., Portland
“We were very satisfied with our new heat pump installation. The install team was very professional and efficient. They completed all work on time and in fine working order. They explained all operations and took the time to make sure we were happy with the installation. Scott followed up with a 1 hour training session and explanation of all units in our system. He was honest, knowledgeable and very professional. All prices were quoted accurately by Scott, and Aly did the paperwork for the Efficiency Maine rebate. We received that rebate check in 2 weeks. Absolutely a great experience.”
Sincerely, Bill & Viera V., Bath
“Scott Libby of Royal River Heat Pumps responded immediately and efficiently to correct the faulty installation by another provider of multi-zone heat pump units in my home.
Scott worked attentively with Mitsubishi to rectify the problems and provided expedient service to ensure the system was fully, securely, and safely operational. I can’t say enough about Scott’s professionalism or his expertise, as well as that of his staff. Royal River Heat Pumps remediated an extensive installation problem in unprecedented time.
I would unequivocally recommend Royal River Heat Pumps LLC to anyone considering the installation and/or service of a new or existing system.”
“Scott Libby and his crew did a Great Job installing our heat pump and five units, along with our new Heat pump water heater! We would highly recommend Scott and his Company Royal River Heat Pumps. We are so happy with the finished result. Our house is super cooled and we have zero humidity. They finished the installation on time and kept the work area clean. The color on the outside of the house matches perfectly. The amazing part is the unit outside is whisper quiet, you cannot hear it at all! By choosing this system we were able to get completely off Heating Oil which is huge! We did a lot of research and it took time to finally go for this system and it was the best decision ever! Efficiency Maine came out to audit and look at the completed work, and told us the the installation was excellent and that the quality of work done by Royal River Heat Pumps is always of the highest quality. Thank you Scott for the awesome job!”

“Scott’s crew just installed our three-zone heat pump, plus a heat-pump water heater, and we were very impressed with the work they did: they were polite, knowledgeable, collaborative. They also have heat pumps in their own homes, and so speak with enthusiasm and experience. They completed the work on time (one day) and walked us through the operation of the units with patience and clarity. They are the most professional crew to ever work on our house.”
David K., Portland
“Just a note of thanks for your kind and efficient assistance in the design and installation of our heat pump system. The work was done quickly and the cleanup efforts belied the fact that anyone had been there. The installation was not complex when compared to many other projects with the exception that a portion of the work had to be accomplished working around and over a sizable model railroad that occupies a major part of the basement. It was necessary to access the false ceiling above the railroad to install the power supply to the heat pump. In addition, movement was restricted to the aisles between sections of the road. Not a leaf or tree or piece of the railroad’s sizable collection of equipment was disturbed – a significant accomplishment!
Thanks again. Please feel free to use us as a reference although if we get too many we’ll have to sell tickets for a ride on the railroad!!!”

“My wife and I purchased two heat pump units; one 15,000 BTU unit for downstairs and one 9,000 BTU unit for the upstairs in August of 2014. From the very first meeting with Scott we were sold and within days of our initial introduction the units were installed professionally and operating efficiently. I can not state emphatically enough how pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional the whole team at Royal River Heat Pumps is to deal with. When we went South for the winter, the heat pumps took over and performed without a flow throughout our time away. Scott “kept and eye on” our units and even performed an upgrade to the operating system while we were gone. It is so nice to not have to “load” air conditioning units into the windows now. And just knowing that there are such wonderful people at Royal River Heat Pumps to help with any issue makes us thankful we dealt with them. Thank you.”

“I have been extremely pleased with the heat pump purchased and installed by Royal River Heat Pumps. I had shopped around before making my decision to go with Royal River. Scott was most helpful and patient in educating and advising me. His installers were friendly, thorough, thoughtful and quick. The placement of the inside and outside unit is perfect so I am so thankful I went with Scott’s recommendations. This landmark cold and snowy winter, the outside unit kept free of snow due to its location away from drifting snow. Because the outside unit is on the far side of the garage, any noise from the pump is cushioned and not heard inside the house. The inside unit continually produced comfortable temperatures. I prefer a warm house so the unit is usually set at the maximum and I am quite content.
Scott set the unit’s fan in the main area, but it really does a good job warming our entire open concept ranch style home. On the coldest days, I keep the bedroom doors closed to maintain the temperature in the living area more efficiently.
Since putting in the heat pump, I have had solar panels added onto the roof. Both the solar company and the town inspectors were impressed with Royal River’s phenomenal installation job.
I am thrilled with the heat pump and highly recommend Royal River Heat Pumps.”

“Your staff was a pleasure to work with. From our first contact I had confidence that you knew your products and how to install them. Scott gave some very good advice about unit location and operation. The crew was friendly, professional – neat and knowledgable, and on time. They took the time to answer questions and worked with me to decide on the installation that would work best for us. After installation Scott spent time reviewing the owner’s manual with me and providing tips to optimize performance. I would be comfortable recommending Royal River Heat Pumps to others.”

“I have worked for Royal River Heat Pumps for a little over a year, and I thoroughly enjoy my job. Scott Libby is a great employer. He’s knowledgeable about his products and services, and I really appreciate that he offers training opportunities through the job. He is very professional but keeps the job fun at the same time. The team Scott has selected is very knowledgeable and efficient, and it is exciting to work for a company that practices resource conservation in trying to reduce our carbon footprint. I learn something new every day and really enjoy the one-on-one interaction with our customers.”

“Last year we spent $5100 on heating oil and I did not want to relive that experience again. A friend of mine at work recommended Royal River Heat Pumps so I gave them a call and Scott came out a few days later. Scott was very knowledgeable about Heat Pumps and spent quite a bit of time explaining everything you ever would want to know about them. He even took the time to answer some unrelated questions that I had about my current HVAC setup which was certainly above and beyond my expectations. Installation was extremely quick and professional and he made all attempts to fit the 3 heat pumps seamlessly into the aesthetics of the house.
The heat pumps have been running for several months now during what is hopefully the worst part of the winter. With the 3 heat pumps our total heating cost for December was $150. This is down from around $450 last year at this time with oil. The biggest difference though is that last year our main floor was kept at a chilly 60 degrees most of the time and now it just stays at a constant 70 degrees at all times. I recommend Royal River Heat Pumps to anyone who is currently looking for heat pumps or is sick of spending all of their money on alternate heat sources.”
Mark A., Portland
“We are very happy with the heat pump. Not only am I warmer than I’ve ever been in the living room, but the savings have exceeded what I had hoped for. The bottom line is, so far this year we have:
– used 97 gallons of propane vs an estimated 400 gallons for this time last year, a 76% reduction!
– increased our electric use by 1700 kWh, for an increased cost of $240.
– The decrease in propane more than offset the increase in electric and combined we have a NET SAVINGS of $940 year to date.
– at this rate the system will save us $2000/year and pay for itself in under 2 years!”

“I recently thought about the possibility of having some heat pumps installed after removing the window units that I have been wrestling with for several years. We have casement windows and it required removing the window and building filler panels and was not a pleasant task. I got on the internet and found several sources and had two of them provide estimates. Scott Libby from Royal River Heat Pumps came by and my wife and I were both impressed with his knowledge and willingness to work with our particular requirements. We decided to go with Scott and are very happy that we did. His crew of four were very professional and a pleasure to have in our home. There was a considerable amount of piping that had to be routed inside closets and thru the basement and when the job was done there was no evidence that any construction had occurred. While one man was drilling through the wall another man was there with a vacuum picking up the dust. There are two exterior units and four interior units in our installation and the job was completed in a day and a half. That was a lot of work for the short time involved but there were no shortcuts taken that I am aware of. I would highly recommend Royal River to anyone considering heat pumps.”
William P., West Bowdoin
“Hi Aly, Just a quick note to let you and Scott know how thrilled I am with my new heat pump! As you remember, my 84 year old mother lives with me and she likes to keep the heat set at 70 degrees, which can be very expensive… not any more! We have been so warm and cozy since the installation and the best part … we are saving a ton of money! We no longer have a battle with the thermostat, Mom is welcomed to set it wherever she would be most comfortable. The installation was quick and Scott is a true professional. The actual “pump” is quiet, blends well within my great room and with the “open concept” of my home – heats almost all of the downstairs! I have calculated our savings to be over $300 monthly since the installation. To say I am happy with this purchase and the job Scott and his crew did is an understatement … I’m ecstatic! My only regret is that I didn’t install a heat pump last year! You guys are the best, many thanks -”
Barbara C., Freeport
“P.S. I received the $500 rebate from Efficiency Maine. Thank you for doing the paperwork for me. Efficiency Maine also offered a free inspection to make sure the installation was done properly and said everything looked “perfect”, which I knew it would!”
“My wife and I cannot recommend Royal River Heat Pumps and Scott more highly. From the initial contact, Scott was the epitome of professionalism, while bringing a wonderful personal touch to our relationship. The work involved with the installation of our heat pump system (4 separate mini-splits, as well as the duct work inside and out) was done quickly, efficiently and with no disruption to our construction project, which was ongoing at the same time. As for the product, the Mitsubishi system works like a charm, is quiet and inconspicuous, and has provided a substantial savings over our oil-fueled heat system. And the price was very reasonable. A wonderful experience in an area where wonderful experiences are few and far between. Thanks, Scott!”

“Our electrician recommended that we call Royal River Heat Pumps. The next day Scott arrived at our home and explained through demonstration how the unit works and answered all our questions. Very shortly after his visit to our home my wife and I decided to have a heat pump installed. Scott sent us a written proposal and then set up a installation date. Scott and his team were very professional and courteous and went over the whole unit with us. The heat pump was installed and everything-from date of installation to cost- was exactly as quoted. The next day was a hot and very humid day. The system worked perfect! Needless to say, we are very happy to have gone with Royal River Heat Pumps. My wife and I were very pleased.”
– Gary L., New Gloucester
“Scott of Royal River Heat Pumps was such a pleasant, reliable and credible person to deal with from the start. He was patient with our questions and laid out a clear plan for installation. The 2 unit installation was completed in one day, and you could not tell that any kind of construction had taken place- he left it ‘white glove’ clean. The most exciting moment for me was when I got my first electric bill after the installation. We had used the units a lot due to the warm and humid weather. Our electricity consumption dropped 24% over the same period last year when we had used window air conditioners less often. We are very glad we bought these units and are also very glad that we had a seasoned person like Scott install them.”

“I decided I wanted to install a ductless/split heat pump in my master bedroom for summer dehumidification and comfort and also as a backup heat source for my all-propane home in the winter. Scott from Royal River Heat Pumps came out and reviewed the site, listened to what I wanted, and offered a fair quote. My site was a bit challenging. I have a 1 and 3/4 cape about twelve years old with several architectural details that made the routing of the lines from the heat to the compressor a challenge. Also, the location was such that it would be visible on the most exposed face of my home, so I wanted the installation to be as hidden as possible. By careful choice of line cover colors as well as routing and compressor placement, the installation Scott and his team did is about as unobtrusive as possible. They arrived on time and finished when they said they would. Thank you Scott and Royal River Heat Pumps!”
– Richard W., Orr’s Island
“Scott and his team are the best! They installed our new heat pump water heater and ductless mini-splits (three interior and two exterior units), and through the whole process, they were the epitome of professionalism and helpfulness. Scott first came to our house for a site visit, and not only did he give us a competitive quote, but out of all the people we considered working with, he was the one who spent the most time examining our house and explaining the pros and cons of all the possible sites for the units. He took into account our future renovation plans, working carefully to route the lines around any potential future building areas. Our walls turned out to be quite challenging, but Scott and his team were very patient and thorough, and we learned a lot about our house’s construction in the process. We are extremely happy with our new units and look forward to saving in energy costs over the coming winter. We couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable, courteous, and accommodating person than Scott!”
